FAIL

My husband phoned to make reservations at Cozy C RV Campground and spoke with a nice lady (presumably the owner). He explained to her that we are primarily “road-trippers” and sleep in our conversion van, but had been invited to join a group of “camper” friends for a week at their RV park. We arrived on Monday and were greeted at the front office by a man with, “I hope you have a bathroom and shower in your unit because ours are closed.” He advised they weren’t allowed to open their facilities due to COVID-19 but Pike County officials confirmed that was the owner’s discretion, not theirs. We learned other advertised amenities were also unavailable, but not mentioned until we traveled across the entire state of Missouri. All of the picnic tables were under a pavilion and roped off from the guests, along with the mini-golf, barbecue pits and community fire pit. And while a part of the area (next to the highway) was set aside as a dog-walking area, we found that guests preferred to let their dogs do their business in and around our RV sites because the high grass was cut and not bagged. One of the couples in our group used the designated area but returned with a green dog. I can only imagine the mess they had to clean up in their camper after taking their dog out to take care of business. Since we’re talking about cutting grass, it clearly hadn’t been done when we arrived Monday afternoon while most sites were unoccupied. In fact, the grass was so tall that we had to set our canopy on the gravel site pad. When the owner cut the grass on Wednesday, and only half of our site, we had a mess to clean off the entire passenger side of our van. We later learned the same thing happened at one of our friend’s site while he was cooking dinner outside. They had to clean their entire dining area (lawn chairs, folding table they brought, etc.). Fortunately, their food had been covered and wasn’t ruined. Since they boast about the Amish Community on their Cozy C website, I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that it is NOT a community that embraces tourism. Save your time (and gas money) and visit the quaint town of Louisiana instead. It is nine miles northeast of Cozy C and sits on the Mississippi River. While we would entertain another exploration trip to that area, we would not stay at Cozy C RV Campground again.
